Stand by your controllers: the Steam winter sale is almost here.

Gamers will be able to scoop some top titles at a reduced price during the annual sale, which has become a fixture of the gaming calendar.

Steam is a video game distribution company owned by Valve – a platform through which PC users can download and update games. It has more than 95 million monthly active users.

The Steam winter sale kicks off on Thursday 21 December at 6pm GMT.

The sale runs for a few weeks, ending at the same time on 4 January, 2024.

The servers are likely to be very busy at launch, so be aware that there might be a lag in viewing available titles.

It’s also worth noting that some deals will only be available for a limited time, so it’s worth checking back regularly for new offers.

What games can we expect to see in the Steam winter sale?

In the Steam winter sale trailer, featured games include The Witcher 3, Rainbow 6 Siege, Baldur’s Gate 3, The Hunter: The Call of the Wild, Dwarf Fortress and Euro Truck Simulator, which suggests that discounts may be available.

Discounts are also expected on Atomic Heart, Starship Troopers: Extermination, Satisfactory, Pummel Party, BattleBit Remastered, New World, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Forest and The Case of the Golden Idol.

What about the 2023 Steam Awards?

The Steam winter sale also means the opportunity to vote for your favourite game in the Steam Awards.

Millions of players from around the world cast nominations during the autumn sale and the folks at Valve have narrowed it down to five finalists in each category.

From the winter sale start time, you can also cast your vote for the winner in each category and earn a Steam Awards sticker for each category you vote in.
