Fortnite’s Winterfest, the annual gaming event that takes place each December, is almost here. The seasonal event offers Christmas-themed skins, gliders and a host of other goodies.
When is Fortnite Winterfest 2023?
Fortnite Winterfest follows on from the Big Bang Event that took place at the end of November.
While Epic Games has not confirmed the start time for this year’s event, it’s expected to drop in the next few days.
Some reports have suggested Winterfest is set to begin at 12pm GMT on Thursday 14 December, based on previous release times, although this is speculation. It doesn’t hurt to be prepared, however – and i will update you with any new developments.
What can we expect from Fortnite Winterfest 2023?
December has already brought a plethora of new content from Fortnite, including LEGO survival mode and a new Guitar Hero festival event.
Fans can expect new themed skins alongside recent releases, such as rapper Eminem and Family Guy character Peter Griffin-themed skins.
Each year, the battle royale is treated to a seasonal upgrade, with snow cover, Christmas trees, lights and decorations.
The Snowball Launcher, a previous fan-favourite, could make an appearance enabling gamers to undertake frozen firefights, while explosive gifts could bring festival treats.
Leaked skin rewards reportedly include Holiday Boxy, a festive version of Boxer & Boxy, and Winter Bushranger, a tree-inspired aesthetic.
These free skins are expected to be unlockable throughout the Winterfest season.
Winter cosmetics, such as the Grumble Gang Bundle for 1,800 V bucks, are also now available in the in-game shop.
This gets you the Doggo skin, Holiday Hydrant back bling, Chow Down back bling and Holiday Ham tool. All of these except for the Chow Down item can all be picked up separately.
While unconfirmed, rumours are circulating that the much-loved Christmas cabin has been cancelled in 2023 and that free rewards are now obtained via Daily Gift Quests.
“The cabin is literally the most exciting thing about Winterfest,” bemoaned one user on Twitter in response to the rumour, while another added, “Epic is officially on the naughty list.”
